2012, Garden Appropriation, Hedehusene, Denmark. During a mapping of Hedehusene, Copenhagen, we discovered an old garden with a strong symbolic meaning for local citizens – the last remnants of a demolished factory. We managed to gain access and arranged an open garden where citizens over two weeks could come by and share their dreams and needs.
A building team of youth from a nearby social housing would build benches, swings, hammocks etc. along with a big bridge that they themselves designed. When it came to a final public meeting in the garden the young people had no wish to take part but instead saw their bridge as a built statement.
