Supertanker

Supertanker embarked on its journey as a Lab for Urban Development, making its first stop in the Copenhagen Harbour in 2003. The primary objective of this lab was to foster a critical, creative, and inclusive dialogue as the foundation for urban development. To achieve this, various initiatives were organized to facilitate discussions about the future of the harbor.

These initiatives included floating citizen meetings, exhibitions, workshops tailored for both citizens and students such as the Marathon workshop (you can find more details about it here). For a comprehensive account of Supertanker’s early years, you can read the article “Supertanker: In Search of Urbanity” published in ARQ, Architecture Review Quarterly (accessible here), or explore our case study in the book “Spatial Agency: Other Ways of Doing Architecture” (available here).
