2017 Salo Stories, Finland. The pedagogical experiments of the EU funded “Urban Education Live” project took (mostly) place in the Finnish city of Salo. The town is well known — in Finland — as a town hard hit by globalisation: The production of Nokia phones took the city from boom to bust.
The main local partner was the high school and the first 3 weeks workshop used a twitter geo-mashup to map: A. “what is there’’ (empty) over a meeting with local NGOs to inspire B. “what could be there”. This led to C. “how to get there” where the students e.g. contacted the owner of a grain silo who thought it would be great with a climbing wall there.
